trump’s Epstein Betrayal Implodes: Why MAGA Is Turning on Him
The conspiracy that fueled his comeback is now his undoing, as supporters demand answers he can’t give
Despite being a highly polarizing, divisive figure, Donald trump has led an unbelievably charmed political life: he has survived countless scandals, including being impeached for extorting the President of Ukraine, impeached for inciting insurrection, convicted of 34 felonies, and still made his way back to the Oval Office.
He's told over 40,000 lies, was found liable for sexual assault, cheated on all of his wives, called veterans "suckers and losers," and the list goes on and on, yet he maintains an unshakable base of voters who would follow him through the gates of Hell.
Until now, that is.
For the past two weeks, Mango Mussolini has been embroiled in a scandal that exposed a real vulnerability in his political armor, and as usual, it was a problem of his own making: conspiracy theories.
He's dabbled in them before, especially when he insisted that our first Black President, Barack Obama, was not born here—and he convinced professional journalists and voters alike that he knew what he was talking about. Until he didn't. By then, he'd moved on to Obama's school transcripts.
Another major conspiracy theory he used to rile up his followers was the big election lie of 2020, when he lost the election to Joe Biden by over 7 million votes and insisted it was stolen from him—he rode that accusation into an insurrection that he watched, smiling, as angry rioters beat cops with flagpoles and fire extinguishers.
He's pushed the almost instantly debunked conspiracy theory of the "they're eating the cats and the dogs" fallacy, weaponized against Haitians with temporary protected status, as a means to attack the whole notion of Black or Brown immigrants being here and being "strange" or "other." trump used much of this xenophobic hysteria to power his push back into the White House.
And once he returned, he embraced another bizarre conspiracy, this one involving white farmers who were allegedly victims of genocide, with their homes and property then being seized and redistributed by the government. He publicized this claim during a visit from the South African President, who was quick to refute it, to which trump just pushed back again.
I could go on, literally, for a very long time, but the conspiracy that has gotten him into hot water with his so-called "poorly educated" voters involves the notorious child rapist and sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, who supposedly had a client list containing the names of all these dirty, deep-state Liberals and Democrats who were guilty of heinous sexual crimes in their secret pizza shop basements or whatever.
