The Craziest Things He Said This Week Are Dragging Us Into WW3

His latest comments on Iran and the Fed are unhinged, yet his party shrugs. WTF?

Am I taking crazy pills? Are we?

Sometimes it feels like that. From 2021 until the end of 2024, I had become accustomed to waking up without that familiar, nagging sense of dread that compelled me to quickly check my phone to see if America had bombed someone, or worse.

Sure, Joe Biden was boring: He was competent, had a competent team around him, was productive, and there was never a moment where you felt like he was trying to make a quick buck off the American people while selling us out to the millionaires and billionaires.

And yes, I am fully aware that Joe Biden is/was old, because they never let us forget it. Every other "news" story breathlessly highlighted him tripping over a sandbag or tripping while running (inadvisably) up the stairs.

I never questioned his sanity, though, not for a minute. He wasn't and isn't a stark, raving lunatic, unlike the current Oval Office occupant. He might have run out of gas a little during his final year in office, maybe lost a step, but again, his age wasn’t a secret.

But if President Biden had said one of the crazy things trump has uncorked, just in the past week, he might not have finished his one and only term, because he would have been forced out of office by Republicans and Democrats.

“Am I allowed to appoint myself” as Fed Chair, to replace Jerome Powell, trump wondered aloud today. Somehow, the markets either ignored his statement or downplayed the fact that he just had another brain fart. The last time he made derogatory comments about the Fed, the market plunged.

“I may do it. I may not do it.” Here’s trump, treating the decision to bomb Iran, kicking off World War 3, as if this were another stupid reality show, and that was his teaser before the break instead of a consequential decision affecting millions.

You can expect this kind of flippant decision-making over whether to put butter on your bran muffin or take your car to the car wash, even though it looks like it might rain. But bombing a country? At least he has national intelligence to rely on, right?

“I don’t care what she said. I think they were very close to having it,” trump said, when asked about National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard’s assessment that Iran was not building a nuclear weapon, shades of his infamous “I know more than the generals.”

Now it has become abundantly clear just why trump appointed so many questionably unfit people to his cabinet—he knew he was going to be making some absolutely batshit crazy decisions and wanted to make sure there was nobody with any real gravitas or credibility to block him or push back. So now he’s just rejecting the opinions of the intelligence community based on… vibes? Trust me, bro?

“UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER MEANS I’VE HAD IT.” Because it’s all caps, you can correctly assume it was on his Truth Social media account, where he said a whole slew of batshit statements to and about the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran. He also demanded that the city of Tehran (10 million residents) evacuate and announced that the U.S. knows where Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is hiding and called him an “easy target.”

What? Is he openly implying assassination?

These are all the statements, not from the drunken guy at the end of the bar at 4 a.m. on a Saturday night; they are from the President of the United States, who wields a great deal of power and influence. And I’m not sure what’s more alarming: the fact that he’s making all of these insane statements willy-nilly, or the fact that people from his own party are so seemingly unbothered by the unhinged nature of them.

Why the hell isn’t everyone concerned that there is a certifiable crazy person sitting in the Oval Office, rejecting professional advice and making decisions on behalf of over 300 million American lives? Has his insanity been normalized already? What are we missing here?

So, what his statements do in the short term is take focus off his horribly received, hugely unpopular “big, beautiful bill,” and the floundering attempts by the Senate to make it palatable enough to pass and get back to the House.

It also has shifted focus away from his disastrous attempt this past weekend at throwing a military birthday party for himself, to the (estimated, not confirmed) tune of $45 to $90 million in taxpayer dollars. Did I say disastrous? Yes, I did. I could have also said abominable, and any number of negative adjectives.

It seemed like there were more members of the military marching (out of step) in the parade than people attending. Social media sites were filled with videos of tanks rolling by sparse crowds, squeaking as they did. I may have busted a gut laughing too hard at that. trump, Melania, and Marco Rubio were filmed barely managing to stay awake for the boring spectacle. It was a huge embarrassment.

And that’s without even counting the millions of Americans who turned out simultaneously at 1,800 events across America for “No Kings Day,” a day of protest dedicated to thrusting a middle finger at trump and anyone who might seek to elevate themselves above the people and our Constitution. Millions of people hoisting signs telling him to go screw himself, while he could barely manage 100,000 attendees at his parade, might have bruised his ego badly.

And, to make matters worse, he showed up a day later at the G7, looking to boost his mojo by taking his assumed place at the head of the “cool kids” table. But he hasn’t been paying attention; his idiotic tariffs and erratic behavior have isolated America and forced other countries to figure out how to move on without us, no longer the reliable partners we once were.

There was a moment that highlighted this perfectly, shortly before he announced his early departure from the G7: French President Macron and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni shared private words and some eye-rolling at the table, as the piss-scented trump tried and failed to appear unbothered. Dude was out of there faster than you could tweet “covfefe.”

Now, I’ve listed about four objectively insane statements made by trump just in the past seven days, and I haven’t even included his stated refusal to call Minnesota Governor Tim Walz in the wake of two heinous political murders. This probably could have been a slam-dunk boost in approval, showing a willingness to rise above petty grudges and be presidential, showing surprising maturity. Instead, he called Walz “whacked out” and said, “He’s a mess… why waste time?”

No other politician could possibly survive this bitter, blatant callousness, this disregard for common decency and compassion, so why does trump get a free pass on it? Sure, the mass media is a bit muted in their condemnation, partially out of fear of reprisal from President Petty, but also possibly because they can’t figure out what to focus on, because there is just so much.

No, I’m not taking crazy pills, and I’m pretty sure if you got this far in my article that you aren’t either. I can’t speak for Captain Ketamine, but I don’t think he reads much in any case. But trump’s imperviousness to consequences is frustrating as hell and tends to make me feel a bit hopeless at times.

But that is precisely when I remind myself that we have midterm elections coming up next year. It might seem like a long time between now and then, but it’s just enough time to build up huge, monster cases against these complicit Republicans so eager to cut Medicaid to give billionaires another super yacht, while they permit trump to run rampant all over our Constitution.

Hang in there, folks. This past weekend was a tremendous win for us, as it showed the nation, and the world, that we're not just sitting back and letting trump do whatever he wants. As a bonus, of course, we did humiliate that fucker. And it showed our elected officials that they better stop failing us, or risk being replaced. And I believe events like this are helping to further galvanize and electrify our demoralized base. We need to keep this energy going.
